Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (PENS)

PENS therapy is a proven treatment, targeted at peripheral nerves and peripheral nervous terminations, designed to treat chronic neuropathic and nociceptive pain resistant to conventional therapies.

Next generation PENS HD, using the proprietary i-STIM generator and i-PROBE needles from AMS, is a targeted, HIGH DENSITY, analgesic treatment that doesn’t damage affected nerves, but makes them less sensitive to painful stimulation.

It is the only BIPOLAR system available on the market to enable the clinician real-time impedance monitoring performing the PENS HD treatment intuitively and effectively.

Multiple treatment program options for the patient, specific to their pathology

Main therapeutic indications

  • Allodynia
  • Occipital, trigeminal and supraorbital neuralgia
  • Post-amputation pain
  • Postherpetic neuralgia
  • Back pain, cervical pain and lumbosacral pain
  • Scar tissue pain and post-surgical pain
  • Frontal lobe and temporal headache
  • Predictive testing for peripheral neurostimulation

i-STIM Generator

  • The i-STIM generator produces a stimulation signal consisting of balanced biphasic square waves at 2Hz or 100Hz
  • The impedance reading is continuous during treatment
  • The treatment voltage can be set from 0V to 5V with an increase by 0.05V
  • The intensity of the delivered current during treatment is automatically adjusted by the generator based on the value of the impedance reading
  • 7’’ touchscreen display and compact size
  • Specific tracking of the target thanks to the continuous reading of the treatment parameters
  • Smart and intuitive interface
  • Automatic recognition of the probe

i-Probe needles

  • Fast learning curve/Minimally invasive procedure (22G)
  • Focused, high density bipolar treatment on the target tissue
  • Possible simultaneous treatment with 2 probes and selection of different programs
  • Integrated infusion line and wide range of i-PROBE sizes
  • Low rate of infections
  • No post-operative hospitalization
  • Few contraindications
  • Echogenic markers
